Class Summary for Nov 28, 2023 - Chapter-2 Slokas 47 - 50

Summarized by:  Anuradha Bhaskara

Recap of last class:- vyavasaihika budhi. Don’t get attached to results and don’t be in the thought process of expecting any results. Khamya karma is desire based and nishkaama karma is  non-desire based.

We went over Jody ji’s questions:-
The subtle body is nothing but combinations of mind, intellect, ego and vasanas. Generically this can be loosely considered as subconscious state.

Right action is always noble- who determines right and wrong isn’t right and wrong ones perception.
Action with right attitude and action without right attitude.
Think of all your actions from the point of spiritual seeker. Action which we do which takes us closer to god or self-realization and actions which we do which takes us away from god.

Sachin ji gave some examples on when someone says why Krishna preaches gita to Arjuna and not to Duryodhana. If Krishna told Gita to Duryodhana then we would not have Mahabharata war.  Krishna tries to go and talk to Dhuryodhana but Dhuryodhana says that he knows what dharma is and he cannot change what he decided to do and hence Krishna gives up on talking to Duryodhana.

Dharma of mother- she always tries to protect and take care of her children no matter what and save the children from getting into a toxic environment or bad company.
Yudhistra does not take Kunti to the forest along with them, instead he ensures that she is safe and taken-care off by leaving her at Vidhur's place.

Satyam, Ahimsa and Bhramacharyam are key values that a right action will have to be based ON.

What is your swadharma?
What is your role as son/husband/father/employee?
Action we are taking should not be self-based or selfish based.
It is the dharma, swa-dharma, attitude that decides on what is right and wrong.
The sadhana that we do is going to help in making the right decision.
Nidhithyasanam, manam, sravanam is what will help anyone to make the right choice and decision.
Self-unfoldment blog link will be shared by mani ji.

Shlokas 44-46
It is important that we constantly do meditation and pranayama.
It must become a positive vasana.  We need to reflect on doing sadhana daily. Pick it up and don’t use skipping as an excuse.
When we take a particular sholka and analyze it can go in different interpretations.
Anything we do must be in moderation. No one is telling us to stay away from anything. Don’t indulge in anything a lot. Any materialistic things must be done in moderation.

Ritualistic things are like motivation for a person like any person who tries to run a marathon to get the goodies in the way. But we must always realize that ritualistic things are not the ultimate thing any person is looking to achieve or that is not an ultimatum or path for reaching the Brahman.

Shlokas 47-50
Dharma or real nature of a person.
The result of any work is always dependent on various factors.
NATO- not attached to the final outcome.
Prasada budhi- accept what is given to you. Give it your 100% and do your best and the result is not only in your control. The key is the X Factor . Giving up the doer-ship and the false pseudo self is important. I’m just an instrument to do this work - should be your attitude.
Don't let the past or the anxiety about the future effect the way today’s work gets done.
