Class Summary for Nov 19, 2024 - Chapter-4 Slokas 25-30

Recap of the last class (thanks to Anuji).:- Attachment to results of the action and performing the actions without
attachments. Basically not having sense of doer ship. Things around us determine the actions we are
doing rather than the actions are for a greater cause.

Verses 19-24

We tried to analyze the picture on the slide -Magnet attracts and aligns the paper clips in the order.

Same way the yagnas will help us to get in order.
Brahman is the infinite is limited in expression by each of our equipment.
We continued with going over the Verses 25-30.
25- Some yogis worship the celestial gods with material offerings unto the. Others worship perfectly
who offer the self as sacrifice in the fire of the supreme truth.
26-Others offer hearing and other senses in the sacrificial fire of the restraint. Still others offer sound and
other objects of the senses as sacrifice in the fire of the senses.
27- Some, inspired by knowledge, offer the functions of all their senses and their life energy in the fire of
the controlled.
28- Some offer their wealth as sacrifice, while others offer severe austerities as sacrifice.
Some practice the eight fold path of yogic practices and yet others study the scriptures and knowledge
of the sacrifices.
Pathima ji gave a brief understanding on the verses from what she grasped as below.
“We are cleaning ourselves by putting ego into the sacrifice. When ego is dissolved then we are not
relating ourselves without body and mind. If we are doing our actions as yagna then it becomes action
with inaction.” .
Theme:- there are 12 types of offerings or sacrifice include
1. Daviva yagna- offering to a deity with fire.
2. Brahma yagna- offer yourself to the ultimate truth for the benefit of all.
3. Sacrifice of senses to restraint- control over senses.
4. Sacrifice of the external objects- control over the mind. Feeding the external objects to the
senses.
5. Dhrvya yagna- giving up wealth or time for a worthy cause.
6. Tapo yagna- undertaking of vrata.
7. Yoga yagna- yama niyama, asana, pranayama,Prathayahara,

10. Praana/Apaana yagna- Praana offered as yagna to apana. Offering incoming to the outgoing as
sacrifice. And vice versa.
11. Pranayama yagna-
12. Aahara yagna- sacrificing intake of food.

Gross to subtle goal it would be if we reverse 12 to 2.
12-3 when looked up deeper is going from gosser to subtler self , if these while performing
actions done with nishkamya attitude helps us to attain the Baghawan.
Starting at higher level and bringing it down to minimum or least thing to do.
Sacrifice the ego to learn can be related to Swadhyaya yagna
Prana is expression of life. Expression of life thru BMI.
