Class summary for Oct 14, 2025 - BG Chapter-6, Slokas: 29 - 36

Summarized by: Bala Dhandapani

After pranayama and meditation, recap from October 7th  class was summarized.
Hanuman Ji’s relationship with Rama (ie as a Servant, as a friend and Oneself/Same) represent the three types of philosophy, namely Dwaita, Vasista Advaita and Advaita.
Dwaita – when one considers different from Bhagawan
Vasista Advaita – when one considers as part of the whole Bhagawan
Advaita- same as Bhagawan.
Eventually with all the three philosophies, self merges and is union with Bhagawan/Brahman.  With Dwaita and Vasista Advaita philosophies, something (a process/transformation) has to happen for the self to become one with the Lord.  In Advaita philosophy there is no process, with unveiling /removing ignorance, the self realizes Brahman.
Class watched the following videos of Gurudev
Sloka 29:
A person who has realized sees only Brahman and the play.  When the ocean is in motion, a realized person would consider that the waves are the play of the ocean.  The self plays in the plurality around him.  A Samadarshi sees everything and everyone as the same.
Sloka 30:
When one goes beyond the BMI, one experiences that the pluralistic world and the perceiver of the pluralistic world both merge into the higher state.  When sunlight passes through a prism, the light is dispersed into seven colors and is projected on the wall accordingly.  When the prism is removed there is no dispersion of the white sunlight into multiple colors.  Similarly, the Atman in us through the BMI projects itself as the pluralistic world of forms and objects.  When the BMI is removed, one realizes that everything is Brahman
Sloka 31
From the dream state alone the dream world can be experienced.  Similarly, from the waking state and deep sleep state the respective states can be experienced. One who has transcended all the states and reached the Samadhi state understands that the different names and forms are all one and the same- consciousness.
 Sloka 32
According to Krishna the man of realization considers that the whole world as his own and rushes to the world to serve the society is the highest when compared to a person who lives in the security of the monastery who is afraid to come back to the society in the fear that they may be attached to the objects and forms of the world.   This is similar to a person who can drive only in a highway when there is no one, but stops the car when there is a traffic or bunch of people in the road and is afraid to drive.
 Subjective Analysis
An equipoised person feels the sorrows and joys of others as his own.  At this state one would be more empathetic.
Class chanted slokas 33, 34, 35 and 36
Summary:  Arjuna thinks that controlling the mind is impossible.  Krishna’s response was – yes it is difficult but not impossible.  Vairagya  (detachment) and continuous practice is the key to control the mind.  Attachment is coming from Vasanas.  Substitute your negative tendencies with positive ones (through Nishkama karma) to overcome Vasanas.

Next Class – story on attachment  - how it brings us down.
